A team of researchers led by Lillian Reynolds (Louise Fletcher) and Michael Brace (Christopher Walken) successfully develop the technology to record and playback a person’s sensory experiences, transferring sensation and emotion from one person to another. The project starts to unravel though, as colleagues use the technology to experiment with sexual and near-death experiences, and the military realise the potential for weapons research. With the help of his estranged wife, Karen (Natalie Wood), Brace becomes involved in an increasingly desperate attempt to stop the government hijacking the entire project…
