In a future Britain, language and conflict have become redundant due to the dominance of television, and the appetites and passions of the masses are controlled by a constant stream of pornography regulating sexual desire. But when audiences show signs of boredom and viewing figures begin to decline, the ‘high drive’ broadcasters are compelled to invent new and more extreme concepts to engage them…

The screening will be preceded by a talk from Andy Murray, author of ‘Into the Unknown: The Fantastic Life of Nigel Kneale’, who will explore the genesis of the piece, the ups and downs of its production in 1968, and the power that Kneale’s prophetic, dystopian vision continues to exert today.
