When a blight destroys the world’s food supplies, America’s population is decimated, and New York teems with starving and lawless gangs. Baron (Max von Sydow), the leader of a tribe of survivors, establishes a commune in the ruins of the city where they develop plague resistant seeds. But the relentless attacks from raiders force Baron to hire Carson (Yul Brynner), a deadly killer-for-hire, who is tasked with escorting the Baron’s pregnant daughter, and the precious seeds, out of the urban wasteland…
