During an expansion of the London Underground, construction workers dig up the remains of prehistoric skeletons thought to be of early man. Soon after, a large metal object is found nearby, which proves to be impenetrable. Professor Bernard Quatermass (Andrew Keir) believes the two discoveries are linked, and when further digging reveals the corpses of actual Martians, and a strange energy field starts to affect the local populace, he unravels the clues and comes to a staggering conclusion…
