Computer scientist Douglas Hall (Craig Bierko) has helped build a ground-breaking virtual world based on 1930s Los Angeles. But when his mentor, Hannon Fuller (Armin Mueller-Stahl), the leader of the project, is murdered, Hall becomes the prime suspect. The line between fantasy and reality begins to blur when Fuller’s mysterious daughter (Gretchen Mol) arrives to settle his affairs, prompting Hall to question everything he knows, and to wonder if he could be the killer…

The film will be preceded by a talk from Murray Shanahan, Professor of Cognitive Robotics at Imperial College London and a Senior Research Scientist at DeepMind, who will consider whether consciousness really can be transferred from one medium (such as the human body) to another (such as a computer).
